EZ-TIME
VERSION 1.0
released 11/10/90
A $5.00 Shareware Utility
by
William Mortimer
*****************************************************************
EZ-TIME is a program used to allow a user to set the system time
using the arrow keys and the enter key. It is a much more
attractive and quicker way to set the time than the DOS time
command. It will prove most useful to owners of PCs or XTs that
do not have a clock, but can also be used to occasionally adjust
the time on ATs.
EZ-TIME is distributed as shareware as eztime.zip. EZ-TIME is
composed of three files:
eztime.exe -----the executable file
eztime.hlp -----the pop-up help file
eztime.doc -----this document
Please do not add or subtract from the compressed file, and make
sure it is uploaded to your favorite BBS in its entirety. If you
use EZ-TIME on a regular basis, please send $5.00 to the author
at the address given at the end of this document.
The EZ-TIME command format is:
eztime [-dXX:XX]
or
eztime [/dXX:XX]
where the optional -d or /d flag indicates that a default time is
given in 24-hour time. If eztime is executed without options, it
will show the system time. If the -d or /d flag is used and no
time is given, 12:00 am will be used. An example of a call to
EZ-TIME that I use in my autoexec.bat on my XT at work is:
eztime -d06:15
I chose the time 6:15 am as default because I usually get to work
around that time, and I use less keystrokes to set the actual
time.
EZ-TIME pops up a window with menus to select the hour and
minutes. EZ-TIME is fairly intuitive, but a pop-up help window
is also available and is called by pressing F1. Use the arrows
to move the highlight bar to the desired selection on each
window, and press ENTER to choose the selection. After pressing
ENTER on any selection, the time display is updated and the
highlight moves to the next window and is positioned on the value
shown in the time display. The system time is not set until AM
or PM is selected and ENTER is pressed; choosing AM or PM sets
the time and exits. To exit the program without setting the
time, press ESC.
EZ-TIME was written using Turbo C and then the executable was
compressed using LZEXE. I coded it during the little time that
my wife allows me per week on the computer. If you find EZ-TIME
useful, please show my wife that my time wasn't wasted terribly
by sending $5.00 to me at the address given below; it's the only
way I'll get to keep programming! (And if you don't, your
conscience will bother you terribly!) Please include any
suggestions for improving the program. Your $5.00 will get you a
nice utility, and any upgrades in future versions are yours free
of charge (obtain future versions the same way you obtained the
original).
Please, please, please send $5.00 to:
